Doing The Keurig 2.0 Descale Procedure And Other Useful Tips

Keurig coffee machines are truly some of the best quality and most convenient on the market today.  They have a reputation for heating quickly and only needing a few fast pushes of the button to get started, then send the brew directly into your coffee mug, cutting out the middle steps. For the coffee drinker that needs their morning joe, Keurig machines are the top on the line in plenty of ways. There are also a ton more ways to use the machine besides brewing coffee as the near instant hot water can be used for tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, and other hot drinks as well.  There are some tips that can keep your machine working in top shape, let’s look at some of those now.
If You Use Filtered Water You Can Avoid The Problems With Scale
Most tap water has minerals dissolved in the water, you can’t see them, but when the water evaporates during heating, the scale is left behind.  There are plenty of different types of minerals that can be in the water, the most common are sodium, sulfur, calcium and iron in some mixture or another. But, by using filtered water you can almost completely eliminate the need to do the keurig 2.0 descale procedurein the owners manual and your coffee will taste better as well.
You Can Quickly Run A Cleansing Brew Through The Machine To Unclog It
The leftovers from the coffee, tea and hot cocoa can easily clog up the needles that are designed to puncture the cups when they are inserted into the machine. By running what is called a cleanse brew through the machine every few days you can prevent this build up. It’s easy to do, just run a brew cycle into an empty cup without using any coffee, tea or hot chocolate after you’re done with your morning brew.  That will clean out the needles and keep them that way.  If they are already clogged, you can open up a paper clip and carefully use that to clean out the needles, then just do regular cleansing brews to avoid the paper clip challenge.
Every Few Months You’ll Need To Descale Your Keurig 2.0
Depending on how hard the water is where you live, you’ll need to do a keurig 2.0 descale procedure about every 3 to 6 months. The scale is made from mineral deposits and can be difficult to remove if left to accumulate, plus it can affect the taste of your coffee. Just mix white vinegar with an equal amount of water and run this mixture through the machine several times without a brew pod, discarding the water afterwards. Also discard any water in the reservoir into the sink, then run a few brew cycles through using just water to get rid of the vinegar taste and smell.  It may take 5 to 10 brews to fully eliminate the vinegar.

Owning a Keurig 2.0 can be a real pleasure, while saving you time in your morning rush to get off to work.  With just a few quick maintenance procedures you can get a long and happy lifetime out of your machine, plus be sure and explore all the other types of uses, such as hot cereal, that can also save you time in the morning.
